Jorge Martinez
Member of the Klein Technique Teacher Certification Program

Jorge Martinez Jorge Martinez started dancing in Buenos Aires, Argentina at 21 years of age after studying acting and performing in musical theater and television. He began his intensive study of dance at the Teatro San Martin where he studied traditional ballet, modern techniques and composition.

In 1997 he won a scholarship to study technique and repertory with Wally Cardona. Through Wallyıs work Jorge was introduced to Klein Technique, which he worked with on his own trying to integrate it with the techniques he was familiar with. He also began an intensive study and practice of Contact Improvisation. During this same period of time he began working as a choreographer, making his own work. His last piece, Esquina, was produced with a grant from the Department of Culture in Buenos Aires.

In 2000 he performed at the Kennedy Center and Spoleto Festival in a piece by Brenda Angiel as part of a national tour of the USA.

In 2002, Jorge won an Antorchas's Scholarship from Argentina to study Klein Technique with Susan Klein. Since arriving in New York he has studied every day consistently at the Susan Klein School of Movement and Dance. While in New York he also studied at the Trisha Brown Studio for one year. Jorge Martinez in now a member of the Teacher Certification Program in Klein Technique.
